Have a few recordings of RNI myself.Site brought back memories of looking arround the Mebo 2 when mothballed in Holland.Last time I saw the Mebo 2 was in the harbour in Malta .Shortly after she sailed to Tripoli and finally used as target practice by the Libiyan navy.I believe the Mebo is on the Mediteranean sea bed.Still we all have the fond memories and luckily sites like this one.

International, but I heard about it a long time ago.. we had radio stations here that were shut down (not for the same reason, though).. and I remember "tearful goodbye" shows broadcast on them before the owners pulled the plug.. Not so dramatic though. I'm happy to find this and I'm pleased to see so much original RNI sounds stored here I like to download it all. I was sent out from holland those day's to work in south germany and I can't tell you how happy I was to hear RNI on shortwave by tuning the radio in search for some interesting. All in all I have experienced the beginning and the end of Northsee International. It was my favorite transmitter in both programming and technical outfit.

Die Zeit von RNI in den frühen 70zigern war ganz toll. Ich war damals gerade 14 Jahre alt und sehr begeistert von allem was mit Radio und Funk zu tun hatte. I was a big fan of the English service of RNI in the seventies and was very angry when the dutch director decided to close the service in October 1972. Ofcourse i was very happy when the swiss directors brought it back the next month.

Een erg leuke site, waardoor ik mijn eigen tapecollectie weer wat kan bijvullen met leuke RNI opnamen. Mijn favoriete RNI periode is Januari tot September 1970. Leuke site en geweldige opname's. Ik luister nu naar Driemaster met Leo vd Goot en voor het eerst kan ik bewust naar RNI luisteren. Toen ze in de lucht waren was ik te jong. De Radio stond wel op RNI maar toen ik het een beetje begon te snappen dat het allemaal van een schip kwam was het al zomer 1974, net op tijd om het einde wel bewust mee te maken, helaas ;-(.

Hoewel ik pas 11 was toen Radio Noordzee met uitzenden stopte, herinner ik mij Prijsbewust, De Top 50, Driemaster alsof het gisteren was. Sinds jaar en dag ben ik op zoek naar originele opnames van 220, in de hoop dat sommige mensen destijds niet zo dwaas zijn geweest als ik, met name door de pauzeknop van de recorder in te drukken telkens een dj, jingle of reclamespot in de buurt van de muziek kwam. Tevergeefs, tot ik jouw site ontdekte. Voor de trip down memorylane: van harte bedankt!!!!

Vandaag heb ik deze site ontdekt en ben aangenaam verrast dat er nog zoveel opnames in goede kwaliteit van RNI bestaan. Hier in Wervik, aan de Belgisch-Franse grens tussen Kortrijk en Ieper was RNI op de middengolf slecht te ontvangen door een sterke Franse zender die vanuit Lille uitzond op 218 meter. Ik denk met weemoed terug aan de zeezenders en verheug me om oude opnames terug te horen. Tot nu is er op de radio niets in de plaats gekomen dat zo typisch is, en da's spijtig.

Excellent recordings! I did listen, here in Sweden, to the test broadcast from RNI on January 26th 1970 on 6210 kHz. Then I followed the station until closedown in 1974. The transmission on 31 mb in the summer of 1970 was like FM = superb reception. What memories! Thanks for keeping them alive. /Per

I remember hearing it for the first time - it was so amazing. It was like having a close friend that you never actually met but new would be there. I remember the march in London, the jamming, bombing, attack, slipping the anchor and two close downs. What a station and what loyalty it built up. What a sad day when it finally went off the air.

I' m happy that I found your page with great pictures and well known sounds. When I was 16 years in 1964 I had absolutey good luck to receive a lot of pirate radiostations. Lovely to see the pictures. Down here in Plymouth I was restricted to the 6205khz, frequencuy for most of the day and very seasonal reception on 1367khz at night. What I would give to hear a few up to date David Rodgers shows or Brian McKenzie playing Rock and Roll lullaby again!

Excellent site! I remember i had my first reel-reel taperecorder in 1974 just before RNI closed down. So was lucky to make some recordings from FM 100Mhz. My equipment was a Philips radio connected to an 3 elements FM aerial vertical mounted to pick the weak signal on 100Mhz in mono (of course).

Well this is a great website. for RNI it takes me back all those years, not like to day here in England were the radio is rubbish to say the least except for R.Caroline of which is struggling, and apart the two other Dutch stations 10FM & Arrow are good. it is a pity RNI in Holland could not be on a powerfull signal,anyway will keep coming back to this site.

My Dad always listened to Caroline (as I still do), but my sister & I always listened to RNI. We even marched to Downing Street for a free radio rally. You can just about see us in the RNI photo book, as we cross Rochester Bridge on a local rally! Love the site, some great images. Can you add 'Peace' By Peter to your audio section. Great site dedicated to a great station. Much missed.

I was a keen RNI listener - especially to RNI Goes DX with AJ. I was a winner of the DX contest in 1971. I have many off-air recordings on reel-reel from the short wave 6205Khz.
